Dental Care for Toddlers: Your little one might have just begun to get new teeth, but that still requires dental care like we adults. Often, toddlers are not taught to brush their teeth, are not given proper dentist equipment, or don’t know the time for their toddler to make them brush. Thus, today we have listed few important dental care tips for your toddler’s teeth.

Dental Care Tips For Toddlers

Dental Care Tips For Toddlers

1. Preventative Oral Care

The toddler food tastes buds are formed in their early life, thus it is important to introduce your child to foods that are healthy and of different tastes. Soda and Sugary juices must be strictly being avoided for them. Toddler’s fluids must come from water, they must not be allowed to suck the juices or even milk from the sippy cup throughout the day.

Don’t provide a toddler with them constant access, you can give them occasionally at meals, or else it may cause a sweet tooth that can lead to many oral health problems at a later stage. Also, it is advised to not expose your baby to lots of sugar when in the developing stage of baby teeth that can lead to many bad oral health problems.

2. Brushing A Toddler’s Teeth

It is vital to start with brushing the teeth of your little ones as soon as they get them, but many toddlers resist at first. In this case, you can help your child to select their toothbrush or let them do it on their own. You can also decorate it as per their like. Try to get toothpaste with various flavours and even colours to make them brush.

But, keep in mind to avoid any fluoridated toothpaste that will make the child sick if they swallow it. Teach them the proper technique to brush the teeth, i.e. Front and even the back of the tooth with a soft and toothbrush which is specially made for your tender toddler gums. Allow and encourage the child to brush their own teeth if they want to. This will make them committed to their good oral hygiene care.

3. Flossing Your Toddler’s Teeth

Actually, toddlers do not require flossing their teeth, but making this a habit can help them in their later stages. You can introduce them to flavoured floss and ask them to floss together. Many kids don’t allow you to floss their teeth till they grow old, thus you can make it a game to encourage them.

4. First Visit To Their Dentist

Your toddler may hate the dentist like many of us do. Thus, it is essential to make your toddler’s first trip to their dentist the very good one. Take them to a dentist who has specialization in children and doesn’t give your child any pain. The dentist waiting room must be fun with lots of prizes that can help them to relax.

5. Good Diet

Your toddler’s diet is very important for healthy teeth. A bad diet can give them tooth decay in the later stages of life as well.
